Thorsberg ehf. operates a large fish processing plant in Talknafjordur in the West Fjords in Iceland. The facility is very well equipped, with large freezers, automated fish cutting and processing equipment, packaging machines and a number of large conveyor systems. The whole operation is computer guided and controlled.


With many users within a relatively small system, the plant experienced various electrical disturbances and distortions that caused extreme high loads on both the plant's grid and machinery, causing equipment life cycles to be far shorter than normal and damaging computers and sensors. So persistent was the problem that the facility had to employ special staff to monitor the facility's electrical grid day and night, along with special cooling equipment being set up at key locations. The company was facing expensive building and industrial work in order to keep it's electrical grid going.


When Mr. Helgi Gislason, Thorsberg ehf. Chief Engineer, was introduced to the ElCorrect™ technology, he jumped at the opportunity. In a very short period of time, the plant was fitted with an ElCorrect™ unit and the results were quite stunning.
